Obtaining medical reports for inability to work due to illness

Conditions of benefit:

  • Sickness disability benefits are available only to employees.;
  • The first 14 days are paid by the entity where the beneficiary works.;
  • As of the 14th day of reports issued by the Medical Commission (MC), the reports are paid for by Social Security. However, the calculations are always performed by the individual.;
  • The medical report is paid for up to a total of six months, including the 14-day payment.

Documentation:

  • The employee must submit the following documents to the entity where they work:
  • Medical reports;
  • Photocopy of the identity card;
  • Work book/Proof of seniority;
  • The form for the last six months' assessed base. (This document is completed by the entity's finance department or printed from the system https://e-albania.al/);
  • The entity's finance department, based on the documents referred to in point “a,” completes the standard Short-Term Benefits Payroll List form and sends it to the ALSSH in the jurisdiction where the entity operates.;
  • After reviewing and verifying the submitted documents, ALSSH transfers the payments to the beneficiary's personal account.

Amount of benefit:

  • Sickness benefits are 70 percent of the daily average of the insured's net assessed base over the six months preceding the date the entitlement arises, when the insured has up to ten years of coverage.;
  • 80 percent when the insured has more than 10 years of coverage.
