Frequently Asked Questions

The questions you ask us most often

Where do I start if I've just opened the business?

From the first level, security. That means knowing who handles the accounting, which category your business falls into, what you need to submit, and by when. These are few and finite. Once you have them under control, move on to clarity, where you learn to read whether you're making a profit.

Guide ·  Level 1, Security

Why do I have a profit, but no money in my account?

Because profit and cash are measured differently. Profit is calculated based on the period's revenues and expenses, even when an invoice hasn't been collected yet. Cash depends on actual collections and payments. So you may have sold at a profit, but the money is tied up in customers who haven't paid or in inventory in the warehouse.

Guide ·  Profit versus cash

How do I know if my business is really making a profit?

By looking at three things on the income statement: how much you sell, how much it costs you to sell, and how much you have left after fixed expenses. If, after everything, a positive and sustainable figure remains month after month, the business is profitable. We translate this for you every month, not once a year.

Guide ·  Level 2, Clarity

How much do you need to sell to break even?

This is the break-even point. You find it by dividing the monthly fixed costs by the gross margin. For example, with 600,000 LEK in fixed costs and a 40% margin, you need to sell 1,500,000 LEK per month to cover costs. Every lek above that is profit. The tool above calculates it for you.

Guide ·  Break-even point

Which category does my business fall into?

Based on assets, revenue, and employees. You are a microenterprise if you do not exceed two of the three thresholds: up to 25 million in assets, 50 million in revenue, and 10 employees. The category determines how simple the statements are and which standard you apply. The tool above tells you immediately.

Law 25/2018, Article 4 ·  Categories

When are the financial statements due, and what happens if I'm late?

By July 31, within seven months of year-end, at the QKB and after approval by the assembly. A fine of 15,000 LEK is provided for failure or delay in filing. Therefore, it's worth submitting them on time, or leaving them with us so you don't miss the deadline.

Do I need an audit?

All joint-stock companies are audited. For LLCs, it depends on the thresholds set by the audit law. We verify your case together, without any guesswork, before you assume any obligation.

Law 10091/2009 ·  Do you need an audit?

Can I afford a new employee?

The answer isn't just the salary. It's the gross salary plus benefits, plus the time until the employee starts generating revenue. As a rule of thumb, a new employee must generate at least twice their full cost to be worth it. Let's calculate it for your case before you decide.

Guide ·  Can I afford to hire?

This information is general and is based on Law No. 25/2018 on Accounting and Financial Statements, as well as on applicable supplementary legislation. For your specific business situation, write to us or call us. We review your case against the current regulations before you act.
