Notice regarding the reimbursement of fines imposed on Albanian citizens outside the Republic of Albania as a consequence of the situation caused by COVID-19.

The General Directorate of Taxes informs the general public and interested individuals that the refund of fines imposed on Albanian citizens, who due to the border closures, as a result of the situation caused by COVID-19, have exceeded the permitted period of stay outside the Republic of Albania, during the period from March 10 to June 1, 2020.

Any individual, an Albanian citizen, who has been fined by international authorities for the above reason must have:

  • the document proving payment of the fine,
  • any document proving that its payment has been made, as well as
  • Individual bank account data (such as bank name and IBAN).
  • Individuals must also submit a personal contact number.

The above documents, translated and notarized, must be submitted to the General Directorate of Taxes via postal service (or deposited in the mailbox at the General Directorate of Taxes).

The General Directorate of Taxes invites all interested individuals to submit the accurate documents as soon as possible, in accordance with the above-cited requirements, in order to ensure a prompt refund and avoid delays in this process.
