Starting March 7, VAT refund applications will be online only.

As of March 7, 2022, any request for VAT refund will be made only online, through Digital VAT Refund Platform. The General Directorate of Taxes makes available the guide that walks taxpayers through step by step how to use the online refund platform. One of the primary objectives that the use of the digital platform will achieve is the complete elimination of physical contact with tax administration employees, removing any possibility of abuse and freeing taxpayers from paper documents and waiting times.

Thanks to the system's automation, the digital VAT refund platform will ensure full transparency in processing requests in order, allowing taxpayers to track the status of their application in real time via the reference number on their e-Filing account. The implementation of this important project for taxpayers represents an irrevocable commitment by the Tax Administration to modernize and digitize public services for taxpayers, which, thanks to the online platform, will save time and provide quality service.
