SECTION M – PROFESSIONAL, SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL ACTIVITIES

This section includes specialized professional, scientific, and technical activities. These activities require a high level of training and provide specialized knowledge and skills to users.

Legal and accounting activities

This section contains the legal representation of one party's interests against the other, before or outside of a court or other adjudicative body, or under the supervision of persons who are members of the bar, such as advice and representation in civil matters, advice and representation in criminal proceedings, advice and representation in employment disputes. This category also includes the preparation of legal documents such as statutes, cooperation agreements, or similar documents required for the establishment of a company; patents and copyright; and the activities of public notaries, civil law notaries, bailiffs, arbitrators, auditors, and judges. Also included are bookkeeping and accounting services such as auditing and record-keeping, accounting system design, and the preparation of financial statements.

  • the registration of commercial transactions by businesses or others
  • preparation of audits, financial accounts
  • Account auditing and verification of their accuracy
  • payment of tax liabilities for individuals and enterprises
  • Advisory and representation activities (other than formal legal representation) on behalf of clients before tax authorities.

This class does not include:

70 Business management and consulting activities

This division includes advising and assisting other enterprises and organizations on management, strategic and organizational planning; financial and budget planning; marketing objectives and policies; human resources policies, practices and planning; production programming, and control planning. This division also includes the supervision and management of other units of the same company or enterprise, e.g. their executive activities.

This class includes providing advice, guidance, and operational assistance to enterprises and other organizations on public relations and communication.

This class includes:

  • Providing advice, guidance, and operational assistance to businesses and other organizations on public relations, including strategic planning and organization.

    • Production programming and control planning.

These services include consulting, operational assistance, and guidance to enterprises and public services regarding:

  • definition of accounting methods or procedures, cost accounting programs, budget control procedures.
  • consulting and assistance to enterprises and public services in planning, organization, efficiency, and control of management information, etc.

This division includes the provision of architectural, engineering, project management, building inspection, and surveying and mapping services. It also includes the performance of physical, chemical, and analytical testing services.

This group includes the provision of architectural services, engineering services, design services, building inspection services, and surveying and mapping services.

This class includes:

  • architectural consulting activities
    • Concept and design of construction projects
    • urban planning and the architecture of urban spaces

This class includes:

    • Control and evaluation of physical characteristics and properties of materials such as hardness, thickness, durability, radioactivity, etc.
    • Quality control and trust
    • Effectiveness control of all machinery, engines, vehicles, electronic equipment, etc.
    • Radiographic control of welds and joints
    • damage analysis
    • Monitoring and measurement of environmental indicators: air and water pollution, etc.
  • product certification, including consumer goods, vehicles, aircraft, pressure vessels, nuclear power plants, etc.
  • Periodic road safety checks for vehicles

72 Scientific research and development

This breakdown includes the activity of three types of research and development: 1) basic research: theoretical and experimental work undertaken primarily to acquire new knowledge on the basis of phenomena and observed facts, without specific application or consideration, 2) applied research: undertaking specific observation to acquire new knowledge, initially directed towards a specific purpose or objective, and 3) experimental development: systematic work based on existing knowledge gained from research and/or practical experience, to produce new materials, products, and equipment, to install new processes, systems, and services, and to fundamentally improve those already produced or installed.

Research and experimental development activities in this division are subdivided into two categories: natural sciences and engineering; social sciences and humanities.

This group encompasses fundamental research, applied research, and experimental development in natural sciences and engineering.

Veterinary Activities

This division includes the provision of animal healthcare and the activity of controlling animal farms or companion animals. The activity of animal ambulances is also included.
