Electronic Signature Platform
The AKSHI electronic signature platform can be accessed at esign.akshi.gov.al. Access is granted with your personal ID number, password, and authentication code. Applications for a new signature are submitted on e-Albania.
Open the signature platform- The electronic signature costs 2,000 lekë per year for citizens and 4,800 lekë per year for businesses, according to the Council of Ministers' decision of October 2025.
- For public institutions, the service is provided free of charge.
- The application and payment are made online on e-Albania at the time of application, and the signature is valid for one year.
- The signature is used on AKSHI's Electronic Signature Platform with the personal number, password, and authentication code.
- The fiscalization certificate is another service, costing 4,000 lek per year, and it does not replace the signature.
The electronic signature allows you to sign documents electronically without being physically present. In Albania, it is issued by the National Agency of the Information Society (AKSHI), and the application is made on e-Albania.
Starting in October 2025, citizens can also obtain an electronic signature for 2,000 lek per year. Previously, the service was only available to businesses and institutions, while the business fee remained at 4,800 lek per year.

Payment is made online on e-Albania at the time of application. The decision of October 2025 fully repealed the previous decision No. 35 of January 22, 2020, which had limited the service to businesses and institutions.
How to apply for an electronic signature
- Log in to e-Albania with your account, as a citizen or as a business.
- In the electronic certificate section, select the electronic signature application service.
- Fill in the required information according to your profile.
- Pay the annual fee online, in the same step.
When a signature is required for business activities, the application is made using the business profile and the business fee is paid.
There is also the physical document route, which is mainly used by foreign nationals and for signing with the eToken USB device. According to AKSHI, documents are submitted in person or by mail. Official requests, the application form, a copy of the ID card or passport, a copy of the license or NIPT, and the payment mandate—which is paid at any second-tier bank—are required.
How to log in to the Electronic Signature Platform
- Open the platform at esign.akshi.gov.al.
- Select the user type, Business employee or Government employee.
- Enter your personal identification number, password, and authentication code.
- Click Confirm.
On the same page, you will also find the four actions that are requested most often., I have lost the password, I want to unlock the account., I want to change my phone number. and the Validate the electronic signature. The last one lets you verify whether a received document has actually been signed.
Electronic signature and fiscalization certificate
Many businesses confuse these two services because both are required on e-Albania and both are issued by AKSHI. The electronic signature is used to sign documents. The fiscalization certificate is used to send invoices to the tax authorities, and without it the invoice cannot be fiscalized.
So a business that issues invoices needs the fiscalization certificate, which costs 4,000 lekë per year, even if it has an electronic signature. Renewal when the term expires
The electronic signature is valid for one year and is therefore renewed annually along with your profile's annual fee. Schedule the renewal on your calendar before it expires so that your documents won't be left unsigned on the day you need them.
For signing on the eToken USB device, AKSHI requires an official request together with the existing device, submitted in person or by mail. If you forget the device PIN, a reset must be requested by emailing [email protected].
