Application for a Unique Permit
Electronic service “Application for a Single Permit” It allows foreign citizens who wish to stay and work in the territory of the Republic of Albania to apply for a single permit in the Republic of Albania. By completing the application solely electronically, the physical presence of the foreign citizen in Albania at the time of application is eliminated. The application along with supporting documents will be submitted only once online, and the responsible structures will process it according to the current legal procedure until the issuance of the single permit with an electronic seal.
To apply for a single permit in the Republic of Albania, completing the correct application form depends on the type of application required:
- New unique property, with D visa;
- New unique apartment, no D visa;
- Renewed unique apartment, with D visa;
- Renovated unique apartment, no visa D.

Steps of the procedure

- Fill out the electronic form accurately with the necessary data for all fields;
- Upload all documents listed on the form in the specified format;
- After ensuring that the information you have provided is accurate, click the “Submit” button at the bottom of the form.
For categories of foreigners that require employment authorization by law, the application is initially reviewed and approved online by AKPA. For the category of self-employed foreigners and investors, the assessment of the fulfillment of the conditions for obtaining a single permit is carried out by the assessment commission of the ministry responsible for finance and economy.
For categories of foreigners who, according to the law, need to be equipped with a visa, the visa is approved by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs after the employment approval from AKPA has been granted.
After the approval of employment by the AKPA and visa approval by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Border and Migration Authority issues a decision to grant, amend, or renew the single permit, provided the applicant meets the conditions specified in the law. The preliminary employment assessment by AKPA is completed within one business day. This deadline was shortened by the joint directive of August 2026, whereas it was previously ten business days. After approval, the electronic provisional permit is issued within 5 days and allows you to remain legally until you collect the biometric card, which is available for pickup within two weeks. You are notified of the application's approval or rejection online.
In case of approval of the single permit to stay, the single permit is generated with an electronic stamp and sent electronically to the applicant.
Necessary time for receiving the service
AKPA assessment within one business day, electronic provisional permit within five days, and the biometric card is issued within two weeks.
Validity period
1-year-old; 2-year-old; 3-year-old; 5-year-old.
